Vice Versa

Although I continue with my experiments in languages, memorable and enduring experiences remain to guide me. I am neither an expert on languages nor a linguist; I do not claim to be either.

However, when an author attempts a different expression and a form that has not been considered, the effects of the language on its author tend to go unnoticed. I am partly to blame for not sharing this personal experience with my readers, most of whom know that I live in silence and some perhaps even think that I am on a distant mystical quest.

Claylanguage allows me to lose myself and only preserves my voice and vice versa
The greatest experience the language has on me is that of the abundant love returned by the love, faith, and hope that are spread via Claylanguage even beyond this blog.

Alleluia!

John 11:25

I am the resurrection and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live.

Happy Easter!

Pater Noster

Pater noster qui es in caelis
Sanctificetur nomen tuum
Adveniat regnum tuum
Fiat voluntas tua sicut in caelo et in terra
Panem nostrum quotidianum da nobis hodie
Et dimitte nobis debita nostra sicut et nos dimittimus debitoribus nostris
Et ne nos inducas in tentationem
Sed libera nos a malo
Amen

My Alma Mater

With grateful hearts,
We sing your praise
Dear school our joy and pride
Where we were schooled in virtuous ways
In duty, truth, and courage tried.

Come boys, let’s sing in jubilee
Our Alma Mater true
And while we sail life’s darksome seas
Our thoughts hark back to you.

With you our hearts are full of joy
And we are proud to be your boys!

The Scribe

Sapientiam omnium antiquorum exquiret sapiens,
et in prophetis vacabit.
Narrationem virorum nominatorum conservabit,
et in versutias parabolarum simul introibit.
Occulta proverbiorum exquiret,
et in absconditis parabolarum conversabitur.
In medio magnatorum ministrabit,
et in conspectu præsidis apparebit.
In terram alienigenarum gentium pertransiet:
bona enim et mala in hominibus tentabit.
Cor suum tradet ad vigilandum diluculo ad Dominum, qui fecit illum,
et in conspectu Altissimi deprecabitur.
Aperiet os suum in oratione,
et pro delictis suis deprecabitur.
Si enim Dominus magnus voluerit,
spiritu intelligentiæ replebit illum:
et ipse tamquam imbres mittet eloquia sapientiæ suæ,
et in oratione confitebitur Domino:
et ipse diriget consilium ejus, et disciplinam,
et in absconditis suis consiliabitur.
Ipse palam faciet disciplinam doctrinæ suæ,
et in lege testamenti Domini gloriabitur.

Carpe Diem

Oh how I have wished
One would cease to become tense
On knowing that the past is long past
And the present is still present!
To have wished the present perfect

Three Latin Words

Audio … I hear
Video ... I see
Disco ... I learn

John 1:1

In principio erat Verbum, et Verbum erat apud Deum, et Deus erat Verbum.

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and God was the Word.

The Word

Verbum sapienti satis est ... A word to the wise is sufficient.
