Voice of the United Language

To write the united language is fun. It is something I love to do when I have something to share or whenever I am in a mood to shape language.

I now have another interesting and related pastime:
To study words in other languages.

Google Translate (the tool on the right →) has grown. It has so many languages in different scripts. This tool translates one language into the many others on its list. Friends from all around the non-English speaking world can simply select a language to experience the joy of reading the united language in a language of their choice. Although you may speak or read in English, you can still go ahead and read this post in another language.

Words seem to have a deeper meaning when read in the context of another language. A word is uniquely connected in all the languages and is more than its meaning in a single language. It is like the hidden voice of the united language!

Potter’s Wheel

The world is fast becoming younger
The news is all they’ve ever known
They’ve seen the wars, the hurt, the hunger
How will they choose when they are grown
What do you tell forever’s children
When it’s their turn to hurt and heal
Whatever spins a grim tornado
Can also turn a potter’s wheel

Take a little clay
Put it on a wheel
Get a little hint
How God must feel
Give a little turn
Listen to a spin
Make it into the shape
You want it in

Tell with your life the bloody story
Teach to they’re dreams not burning steel
It’s not in bombs where lies the glory
But in what’s shattered on the field
The potter’s wheel takes love and caring
Skill and patience, fast and slow
The works it makes are easily broken
Once they survive the potter’s throw

Take a little clay
Put it on a wheel
Get a little hint
How God must feel
Give a little turn
Listen to a spin
Make it into the shape
You want it in

Some day some children will be digging
In some long forgotten ground
And they’ll find our civilization
Or what’s left of it to be found
They’ll find the weapons of destruction
But buried deeper in the hole
They’ll find a message and a promise
In the sand, the potter’s bowl

Take a little clay
Put it on a wheel
Get a little hint
How God must feel
Give a little turn
Listen to a spin
Make it into the shape
You want it in

Earth and fire and wind conspire
With human hands, and love, and fire

Not Just a Language Sweet Heart

Not just a language sweet heart,
There is much more.
I find in her friends
I otherwise would not know.
I find in her solace in words galore.
I find in her joy in work as I grow.
Not just a language sweet heart,
You have to meet her
If you want to know more.

Mold the Earth

The time for making new resolutions has dawned. These last few days in December are filled with moments of introspection and hours of reflection.

Living at the rate of 60 seconds per minute and making these seconds count in adding greater value to life are a couple of small resolutions. Pondering on speeches that enabled change and contemplating on movements that changed world history are two methods to simplify the process of making big resolutions; however, both methods do not enable the keeping of the big resolutions that they had initially inspired. Improvement begins with determination and is maintained by the constant resolve to be better than the person one was the previous day.

The abstractness involved in the aim to change the world confounds me. In order to guide and influence growth and development by giving change a definite form, I would consider a phrase “to mold the earth” as a resolution for 2011. Molding the earth is similar to playing in the sand and building sand castles; the simplicity of the phrase would make it a resolution difficult to break.
Happy New Year 2011!

On Moving On

When friends move on,
I pause to think.
We had known more than little,
And those moments shared,
They seemed much brittle.

The first has moved on,
She is on maternity leave.
The second has moved further,
Hers the country to leave.
The third has grown wiser,
He has turned a new leaf.

As each friend moves away,
I thank God for having had a friend.

A soul who made life different in a unique way.
Blessed is he indeed to have found himself such a friend!

Spiritual Growth

A revelation of me reaching a certain spiritual maturity occurred the moment I deleted the prepositions "auf" and “in.”
