An Act of Contrition

O my God, I am heartily sorry for having offended You, and I detest all my sins because of Your just punishments, but most of all because they offend You, my God, who are all good and deserving of all my love. I firmly resolve, with the help of Your grace, to sin no more and to avoid the near occasions of sin. Amen.

A Saturday Sky

The sky on Saturday evening was wonderful. The sun was about to set, while white cottony clouds reached heaven. Hues of shiny silver and light gray painted the celestial blue sky, and my mouth opened in praise. The wide horizon filled my heart with hope as the depth of the sky lead my thoughts to God. The blend of shades seemed to invite me to come and see His glory as my heart experienced eternity. His infinite grace displayed bright colors of magnificent magenta that delighted my soul. Scenic stillness calmed my mind, anticipating His steadfast love that would linger through the dark night, and my gratitude faithfully reserved for this Sabbath.
Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear. (Ephesians 4:29)
But now you must put them all away: anger, wrath, malice, slander, and obscene talk from your mouth. (Colossians 3:8)

Important Words at Work

5 important words: I am proud of you!
4 important words: What is your opinion?
3 important words: If you please.
2 important words: Thank you.
1 important word: You

Few souls understand what
God would accomplish in them
if they were to abandon themselves
unreservedly to Him and
if they were to allow His grace
to mold them accordingly.
- St. Ignatius of Loyola

A Word

A careless word may kindle strife;
A cruel word may wreck a life.
A bitter word may hate instil;
A brutal word may smite and kill.

A gracious word may smooth the way;
A joyous word may light the day.
A timely word may lessen stress;
A loving word may heal and bless.

"Kind words can be short and easy to speak, but their echoes are truly endless."
- Mother Teresa

Lord Help Me

  • To search for life's answers first in the Bible and then on Google
  • To believe in results from Yahweh more than Yahoo
  • To look for something that cannot show up in Bing
  • To remember the Way to heaven is not uploaded on YouTube
  • To help my mom cook rather than poke on Facebook
  • To make my life better besides sharing it on Twitter
  • To listen to You God and not just iPod
  • To spend time in prayer before I post to this blog!

Meaning of Mean

What makes a person mean?

Well, I would not have given this word much thought had it not been for a few pretty girls checking out the word at work today. Besides, I too may have a mean streak that until now may have been vying for my attention in the midst of goodness.
However, their enthusiasm and my curiosity with some public display of meanness do make the day mean and meaningful.

Although not meant to be comprehensive, here are three mean types:

  1. People who are just predisposed to being mean.
  2. People who choose to be mean.
  3. People who do not know how to be mean.

How would you react if a graceful girl tells you that she is indeed mean?
Funnily enough, you would want to like her more.
How would you react if a mean girl tells you that she is indeed graceful?
Whatever that would mean ... it would be meaningless.

Most bosses are mean.
Some teachers are mean.
Few neighbours are mean.
The thing about being mean is that it is right there...
in the middle of being good and being wicked.

Data are presented as mean values,
And by no means would meanness have a standard deviation.
We all know the standard error of the mean.
But by all means, I sincerely hope your means to be mean are lean.

Vessels of Honour

O man, who art thou that repliest against God? Shall the thing formed say to him that formed it: Why hast thou made me thus?
Or hath not the potter power over the clay, of the same lump, to make one vessel unto honour, and another unto dishonour?
(Romans 9:20-21)
These verses show that we are not to dispute with our Maker, nor to reason with Him as to why He does not give as much grace to one as to another.

Because the whole lump of our clay is vitiated by sin, it is owing to
  • His goodness and mercy that He makes out of it a vessel of honour
  • His justice that it be made into a vessel of dishonour in punishment of unrepented sin
When my eyes are worn,
And my heart is torn;
When Anger comes to rescue Love
Lord, it's difficult being a dove.
But Your Sabbath's here,
My Rest ... You know!
These twenty-four hours
Prayeth ... Ye Your Grace bestow.

Father

Father, I place into your hands the things that I can't do.
Father, I place into your hands the times that I've been through.
Father, I place into your hands the way that I should go,
For I know I always can trust you.

Father, I place into your hands my friends and family.
Father, I place into your hands the things that trouble me.
Father, I place into your hands the person I would be,
For I know I always can trust you.

Father, we love to seek your face, we love to hear your Voice.
Father, we love to sing your praise, and in your Name rejoice.
Father, we love to talk with you and in your Presence rest,
For we know we always can trust you.

Father, I want to be with you and do the things you do.
Father, I want to speak the words that you are speaking too.
Father, I want to love the ones that you will draw to you,
For I know that I am one with you.

Happy Father's Day!
